“Sally Rousse’s fabulous site-specific performing tour of the Hennepin Center for the Arts in downtown Minneapolis, originally a Masonic Temple, invites guests to see this place anew. Titled Icon Sam: Temple Dances (it’s an anagram for “masonic”), guests are led through the eight-story, historic, 1888 building while an array of Twin Cities performers regale them with stories spoken, written, and danced. “ City Pages
I was commissioned by Rousse to create an installation as part of the Icon Sam show. Sally provided a room on the 5th floor where I staged a tableau in homage to my memory of a 2017 performance at the Masonic Temple. The performance featured Nicky Coelho dancing in a piece choreographed by Myron Johnson, The Indestructible Lady Penrose.
